MINI / MIDI / YOUTH
Age Grades
A player’s age grade is determined by their age on the 1st September at the beginning of the season. An under 14 player will therefore only turn 14 during the course of the season. Mini Tag
Calne RFC & Springfield School offer MINI TAG to both BOYS and GIRLS who are in school years 5 and 6. It is a non-contact sport, using Velcro belts, designed as an introduction to rugby.
Sessions are held on priamry school sites in and around the town. Please contact your school to see if we are visiting you soon, or to ask about booking our free services. MINI RUGBY is a 9-person game designed for BOYS and GIRLS who are in school years 6 and 7. TO BE UPDATED They play an abbreviated version of rugby designed to teach the correct and safe methods of contact. MINI RUGBY is played with only 9 players per team and infinite number of substitutes. Games last only 30 minutes, consisting of two halves on a reduced size pitch and there are a maximum number of 17 fixtures per year. Calne RFC’s MINI RUGBY section’s kit is sponsored by Buildbase. MIDI RUGBY is a 12-person version of the game, which is again designed for both BOYS and GIRLS. MIDI RUGBY covers school years 8 and 9. Matches consist of two 20-minute halves on a reduced size pitch.
