2005 AGM Meeting Review
Attendees of Calne Rugby Football Club’s 2005 Annual General Meeting witnessed a one of the most upbeat meetings in recent memory. As well as a superb review of action on and off the pitch during the 2004/05 season, the committee for the 2005/06 season was decided and now contains a number of new faces. The senior first team finished Third in Dorset & Wilts division 1 North after narrowly avoiding relegation the season before. A massive points haul 618 points, the best in the league, was a reflection of the fast, attacking and confident style of play being coached by John Crozier. The junior section, now in it’s second year, saw a sizeable increase in the playing membership. All present agreed that with a little more work on the marking and coaching support fronts the section will quickly become very competitive. In only it’s second year the section showed accounts already a thousand pounds in credit. This mainly is thanks to donations from the Council, the Lottery, the Recreation Club, an anonymous benefactor and Gillian Key of Key Day Nurseries. The Treasurer’s report was welcome news. The club continues to be very sustainable and stable, with two thousand pounds being added to the club’s account, despite a thousand pound being spent on floodlighting repairs and another thousand pound being spend on kit throughout the season. The Vice Presidents continue to be the main stream of revenue for the club and Graeme Robinson was again praised for his dedication and hard work in this area. Sean Lambourne was again voted unanimously in to the posts of Chairman and President. Leigh Martin and John Hope-Smith both retained their posts as Treasurer and Fixture Secretary respectively. As did the likes of Head Coach, John Crozier along with VP Secretary, Graeme Robinson and Development Officer, Matt Snell. Alan Matthews MBE also unanimously retained his post as Junior Section Chairman. On the playing front, last season’s 1xv captain Andrew Donegan announced his intention to stand again for the upcoming season and was unanimously voted into the post. Jason Dolman has taken up the mantle, left by the retiring Paul Hulbert, as 2xv Captain for the 2005/06 season. Maggie Crozier was welcomed on to the committee in the post of Honorary Secretary, as was Mark Edwards in the Club Captain’s role. With all sections of the club looking in good shape the club is looking forward to the fast approaching season with relish. Calne RFC will be one of the clubs to watch this season. |
