Calne RFC has been invited to carry the centrepiece of this year Christmas parade on Saturday 27th of November at 4pm. The 35 foot Dragon and the two 10 foot tall swans need a total of 15 volunteers!!

As well as the lights, there will also be a Lantern parade, a number of community stalls, street entertainers, late night shopping, markets and arts & crafts.

We will be meeting at the club at 3pm, where we will don club colours and have a sneaky beverage, before heading off to the high street to help set up the rugby club’s community stall and another beverage, or two, before moving on up to the Football Ground for 4.45pm. The parade moves off at 5pm sharp and aims to finish in Church Street, in good time for the switching on of the light ceremony at 6pm. The event, as a whole, finishes at 7pm, where we can all head off home or back to the club…..

It is important that we are seen in the local community as much as possible as it increases our profile and gains respect from potential players and sponsors. This event is the perfect platform to show the community how welcoming we are.

As we are also erecting a ‘community stall’, (we have been promised a spot near the Kings Arms), we ideally need the services of a senior committee member, a representative from each of the senior teams, a youth section representative and a couple of partners too. We can use this opportunity to sell the RFU’s grand draw raffle tickets. Not only can we raise a bit of cash, we can also promote our need for more 2nd team players and most importantly promote our need for more youth members.

This event is a great opportunity for all our partners to meet, mingle and swap shopping stories, whilst the family watches the parade and other entertainment.
