Calne 2nds started a mini winning streak of two wins in a row as they ripped though an under strength Old Eds 2nd team. Prior to kick off Old Eds only had 8 men due to first team call ups and Calne graciously loaned 4 players making the teams 13-12 in Calne favour. Despite this set back Old Eds started strongly, won a penalty in front of the posts and duly converted it. Calne had flash backs of the home fixture earlier in the season, where Calne lent 5 men and lost. However, steady, controlled play from Calne’s pack and half backs soon reassured the travelling team.

A break from late call up Andrew Donegan saw him outpace the familiar looking defence for a score from an unfamiliar position of centre. Wing John Hope-Smith picked up the next. But just as Calne looked to have settled, loan player, Jeff Price playing in the centre out paced Donegan in the chase from a clever kick though.

The fast improving and now more confident prop, Dave Holmes, wrestled his way to the line for his first try of the season. Fly half James Gladding exploited the tiring defence for a score and Calne were looking comfortable at half time. In the interest of fairness, Calne rotated its loan players during the break. Debutants Seth and Rob Brown both had fine steady games, with Seth picking a debut try. His young, fast legs were too much for the more wily opposition. Damon Murphy added a try along with Alan Wicks and Gladding picked a second after a fine all round performance.
