Calne Vs. Supermarine
Marine sunk!

Calne continued their objective of heading towards the middle of the league table will an emphatic victory over a spirited Supermarine side. Being watched by the Club's Vice Presidents and their guests the local Councillors and John Wilding of the RFU Calne went about putting on a good show in what was going to be a very tough game against a Supermarine team who was finally finding some form.

The opening phases were very even as both sized played good controlled rugby and settled in to their respective game plans. Calne's half backs pulled the strings off of ruck and maul ball to create the first score of the day. Scrum Half Andy Donegan spotted an opening off a ruck and punished the defensive mistake with his own converted try from the touch line.

Despite a high quality start both sides gave up territory and possession with poor handling and turn over ball. An injury to the corner stone of Calne's pack, Matt Arnold, swung the scrums in favour of Supermarine. Their new found dominance of the set pieces was soon rewarded with and unconverted try followed by a penalty soon after. Calne were able to respond though the boot of fly half James Gladding to secure some good territory. The pressure soon showed and saw Supermarine conceded a penalty scored by Andy Donegan.

The second half continued in the same vain. Supermarine dominate the scrums but looked weak and lacking ideas in the backs. Whilst Calne's back line look vary dangerous but were starved of ball. A cumbersome and telegraphed Supermarine back line move was pounced upon by Neil Young for a trade mark interception score between the posts. Converted By Andy Donegan.

Marine were by no means out of the game and relentlessly pounded the Calne try line only to be denied by fine tackling from Daron Thomas, Pete McGarry and Mike Robinson. However, Marine had the last way as they kept their cool, against the spirited and organised defence, to sneak over for a late converted try which ended but, failed to affect the out come of, the game.
