PUB 7's RULES
The standard English RFU rules apply with exception of the amendments made for seven’s rugby and as stated below. The following additions are subject to the approval of the senior Dorset & Wilts referee officiating the event. 1. Pitch A full size rugby pitch will be divided into two half’s, see diagram below. Games will be played across the pitch with the touchlines becoming try lines. The red line represents the additional line to be marked to create touchlines a safe distance away from the goal posts of 5 meters and an in goal area 2 meters deep. 2. Duration Each half will be 7 minutes long with a two minute half time. 3. Substitutes Substitutes are permitted during breaks in play. A team may rotate players as required. The referee must authorise any substitution, replacement or rotation before the new player enters the playing area. 4. Goal Kicks Goal kicks, in the form of a drop goal, are only permitted after a try has been scored. Penalty attempts are not permitted. The kicker may take a drop goal from anywhere in the field of play. 5. Sin Bin If, at the referee’s discretion, a player is sent to the sin bin the player must immediately leave the field of play for 2 minutes. If the same player commits another similar offence in the same game, he will be required to leave the field and not return for the duration of the game. 6. Sending’s off If a team has two players sent of in a game, or a total of three over a number of games then the game in question will be abandoned, with a win being awarded to the non-offending team, and the offending team will take no further part in the tournament. 7. Tied matches In the event of a tie a ‘best of three’ drop goal competition will decide the winner. If a tie still remains a sudden death drop goal competition will decide the results. Each drop goal will been take by a different member the team each time from any where behind the 22-meter line. 8. Entry forms & fee Entry forms and the entry fee must be returned to: Matthew Snell 9. Active Players In the interests of player safety, no team is allowed to play more than one active player at a time. All active players must be disclosed on the entry form. If undisclosed active players are identified before or during the tournament, the team in question will take no part, or no further part, in the tournament. |
