1XV & 2XV players needed now....

There has never been a better time to join Calne RFC and now more than normal, we need new playing members! The 2007/08 season will be here soon starting with a pre-seaon tour to Bournemouth, so nows a great time to get settled in!

As always, but even more so than ever, our doors are wide open to anyone who would like to join us! We are a very welcoming, open and social club that loves its rugby and plays hard and to win. Please email, call or turn up to the club one Thursday evening at 7pm and we’ll take it from there!

Calne Rugby Football Club's 1^st XV play competitive rugby in Dorset & Wilts division I North. Following a strong showing in the previous season, the 2005/06 league runners up, will be looking to make their mark again in the 2006/07 season. But more big hitting, line breaking, bally carrying players are needed for the start of the 2006/07 season, so join us now.

For 2006/07 the club's 2^nd XV have entered Dorset & Wilts division III North, on the back of having already beaten most of the teams currently in DIII and now require more players for the coming season.

The club is in the process of it largest recruitment drive in a number of years. 1st XV, as well as 2nd XV, places are genuinely up for grabs, so if you are thinking of making the switch and playing for us, now's the time.

Both teams train as a squad on Thursday evenings at 7pm, you are more then welcome to join in. Please ask for Matt or Richard when you arrive.

From the A4 heading from Chippenham towards Marlborough, turn left at the town center's traffic light controlled junction, (by the new library, Barclays bank and the Landsdown Strand hotel), follow the road past the Somerfield supermarket. The Clubhouse is on your left at the top of the hill and parking is 100M further on.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our new Junior Section leader, Chris Austin, and his growing team Calne RFC’s Junior Section is now back up and running non-contact Tag-Rugby for anyone 6 to 9 years old.

The wheels are in motion to expand this on to Mini-Rugby, where 9 and 10 year olds are introduced to carefully controlled contact Rugby. Volunteers are needed to help kick start this part of the Junior Section revival.

Chris Austin is a very popular, long serving member of Calne Rugby Club’s senior section. He is CRB cleared and currently the 2nd Team’s vice-captain, the Club’s sponsorship co-ordinator, the club’s merchandise Manager and of course a qualified Tag-Rugby coach. Outside of Rugby, Chris, is also the Director of his own Sales Company located in Calne. Chris has all the tools and commitment, and of course the full support of the Club’s committee, to help develop your Child’s Rugby development, all he needs now is your child to attend one of his sessions and any support and help you can offer to continue his good work.
